The deductible limit is the maximum amount covered in a given year a participant may have to pay before the plan coverage is required to satisfy the full amount of claim(s).
- A calendar year deductible, what most health plans operate on, begins on January 1 and ends on December 31. Calendar-year deductibles reset every January 1.
- A plan year deductible resets on the renewal date of your company's plan. For example, if your health plan renews on June 1, then your deductible would run from June 1 to May 31 of the following year.
This is specified in your contract by searching for annual deductible, deductible, or calendar year. If you are having trouble locating this information, please contact your HR contact, broker, or carrier.
