When can I get health insurance?

Depending on your situation, you may be able to enroll in health insurance for the rest of the year. But if you’re not eligible, you can enroll in coverage for 2023 starting November 1.

Outside Open Enrollment, you can get health insurance 2 ways if you qualify for:

• A Special Enrollment Period: A limited time when you can enroll due to a life event, like losing other coverage, getting married, or having a baby, or based on your estimated household income. Your coverage generally starts the first of the month after you enroll.
• Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP): You can apply any time. Your coverage generally starts on the first day of the month you applied.
